Charli XCX’s ‘Brat’ Cover Art Took 5 Months to Make: Designer Us Weekly
While these lyrics were introspective, they weren’t what brought this song to popularity; rather, it was the viral dance trend for Apple, spurring on brat’s publicity through TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. TikTok has long been an app that brings underground artists and underrated songs to light, and Apple was no different. The summer of 2024 was defined by the color #8ACE00 – a bright, vivid “brat green”.
The album was nominated for the Mercury Prize 2024 while Guess featuring Billie Eilish debuted at No 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart, making Charli the first British artist top the charts this year. Embark on a journey of self-expression and design with Brat Generator, a captivating creative tool that empowers you to channel your inner artist while celebrating the bold aesthetic of Charli XCX. Whether you’re crafting custom memes, personalizing album-inspired covers, or exploring vibrant colors, Brat Generator combines the thrill of artistic freedom with the satisfaction of playful creativity. While initially she struggled to find a direction, on a trip to Los Angeles to meet with producers she clicked with Ariel Rechtshaid, who would soon have success with Vampire Weekend, Haim and Sky Ferreira. In 2011, Charli released two of their collaborations as singles, “Stay Away” and “Nuclear Seasons,” which captured the attention of Pitchfork and the alternative media. At around the same time, a song she’d created with a different producer, Swedish-born Patrik Berger, was covered by the duo Icona Pop.
When Lowe described how “obsessed” people have become with the brat visual aesthetic, to the point that some have said she “claimed a color,” the singer laughed. Charli said she was at home when she came up with the concept, thinking that she’d been pictured on the covers of all her albums up to that point — except for her 2016 EP Vroom Vroom. “Actually it kind of punctuates the pattering in quite a nice way, but also, like, handy because it’s going to be a lower spend,” she said.
Most famously, Charli created new lyrical narratives around several of the songs. Live performance has already been essential to brat’s rollout, starting with Charli’s immediately legendary Boiler Room DJ set in February, which broke the record for the highest number of RSVPs in the company’s history within hours of its announcement. Flanked by brat album cover generator executive producer Cook; her fiancé and co-writer, The 1975’s George Daniel; and producer Easyfun, she played many of brat’s songs for the first time. But to keep fans on their toes, all the versions she played were remixes.
A girl named Alice straightened her long, white T-shirt over her blue skirt, brushed her jet-black bangs away from her eyes, patted her hips with her hands, and walked slowly to the table. She went to the handsomest of the group, the boy with the firmest chin and the darkest sunglasses. She knew that he was Rob Lowe and that he had been in The Hotel New Hampshire, and she probably also knew that he was involved with an actress named Melissa Gilbert, but from the open, white-toothed smile he gave her as she walked over, she felt confident. Nobody Wants This actress Kristen Bell, who shares daughters Lincoln and Delta with husband Dax Shepard, celebrated the Armchair Expert host’s 50th birthday with adorable pictures of their kids. “There were zero hesitations in continuing the story,” says ID president Jason Sarlanis of the ‘Final Chapter’ episodes, streaming Jan. 6-7.
